Dr. Rembert "Buddy" Scarborough Truluck, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 14, 2008, at the age of 74, in Greenville, S.C. Dr. Truluck was from Clinton, S.C., where he graduated in 1954 from Clinton High School. He went on to attend Furman University and later The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., from where he graduated with a Doctorate of Theology in 1968. Dr. Truluck went on to pastor several Baptist churches in Kentucky, South Carolina and Mississippi.

In 1973, Dr. Truluck was called to the Baptist College of Charleston to be a professor of students to the new college. Dr. Truluck later served as pastor of MCC Churches in Atlanta, Nashville, and San Francisco. In 2000, he authored the book, "Steps to Recovery from Bible Abuse." In recent years, he settled in Greenville, S.C., to be near his family.

Dr. Truluck was the son of the late Rembert and Mary Frances Truluck, Sr. He is survived by his sister, Jackque Warren (Ed); three children, Deborah Phillips (Tim), Russell Truluck (Peggy), Susan Truluck (Anna); grandchildren, Daniel Phillips and Ashley Truluck. Dr. Truluck also leaves behind a nephew, Forrest Cook (Carolyn); great-niece, Emma Frances Cook, Aunt Kitty and several cousins.

Dr. Truluck is to be cremated by The Mackey Mortuary in Greenville, S.C. His family invites all who wish to attend to an informal memorial service on November 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. to be held at Horseshoe Falls, located just outside Clinton, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Russell Truluck, 219 Cox Ridge Ct., Travelers Rest, SC 29690 for a memorial fund to be established. She was born in Atkins, SC, and was a daughter of the late Dalton Josie and Maude Lucas Boyce. Mrs. Waits retired from Greenwood Mills, Joanna Plant after 41 years of service, was a member of First Baptist Church of Joanna where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class and was a member of Eastern Star, Goldville Chapter No. 154.

Mrs. Waits is survived by a brother-in-law, Vernon and Janie Mae Boyce, a daughter-in-law, Frances Boyce of Aiken; a granddaughter, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, a great-great-nephew, John Hogan Fuller and family, and a great-great-niece. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert L. Boyce, Sr., her second husband, W. Walter Waits, Sr., and her son, Robert L. Boyce, Jr.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, Sept. 25th at 2:30 p.m. in Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

Born December 28, 1934 in Sumter, he was a son of the late James Barnard Allsbrook and the late Ella Boyce Lowery. Mr. Allsbrook married Doris Riles on October 31, 1954. He was employed by Burgess Brogdon Building Supply and Burgess Brogdon Concrete until October 2011. He was a loving husband and father, but most of all he was the best granddaddy.

Survivors include his wife; three children, James "Ray" Allsbrook (Rhonda), Stanley Dean Allsbrook (Rose), and Carol Allsbrook McDuffie (Luke); a brother, James Wayne Allsbrook; five grandchildren, William Corey Allsbrook, Kelly Allsbrook Welch (Stephen), Stacy McDuffie Montgomery (Jay), Kathryn "Katy" Elizabeth Allsbrook, and Kristen Riley McDuffie; a great-grandchild, Stephen Banks Welch; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gerry Allsbrook Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Arthur Sharpe officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Mr. Broadway was a member of Harmony Church and a retired auto mechanic instructor with Central Carolina Technical School.

Surviving are his daughter, Barbara Broadway Pendarvis of Sumter; brother, James Brantley Broadway of Sumter; sister, Mary Francis Laverdiere of Sumter; grandchildren, James Reginald Pendarvis, Jr. and Catherine Kessler Pendarvis, both of Sumter.

Mr. Boyce was born June 27, 1927, in Sumter, South Carolina, a son of Henry V. Boyce and Ellie Kolb Boyce. He was educated in the public schools and attended the University of South Carolina. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He organized and was formerly president of Peoples Real Estate Agency, Inc., a Coldwell Banker Affiliate. He was formerly a president of the Beaufort Board of Realtors and the Beaufort Chamber of Commerce. He served in other civic organizations including the Beaufort County Red Cross, a local leader of the Boy Scouts of America, the United Way of Beaufort County and served as the 8th Commodore of the Beaufort Water Festival. He was a member and trustee of the Carteret Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of Beaufort are: four daughters, Linda Coxwell, Ann Glennon, Carol Smith and Marian Erickson, all of Beaufort; a son, Henry Vaughn Boyce, III, of Suffolk, Virginia; two sisters, Betty Jo Nelson and Louise Bold, both of Charleston; a brother, Thomas McKnight Boyce of Beaufort; and twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Victoria R. Boyce, 87, widow of Charles Theodore Boyce, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Born April 10, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Janie Rose Revill and the late Joseph Andrew Revill. Mrs. Boyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devout Christian. Her life touched many people around her.

Survivors include four daughters, Katherine Herring (Charlie) of Sumter, T.J. Harvey (Jim) of Deltona, Fla., Charlene Ogle (Glen) of Sumter and Elaine Strickland (Jimmy) of Columbia; a sister, Vivian Burress of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Open Bible Church on Old Manning Road with Pastor Larry Hummel and the Rev. Dean Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Thomas Daniel, and one sister Betty Ann Poland. Survivors include his wife, Barbara White Boyce, one daughter, Connie (James) Ogburn, and 2 sons, Randal (Melody) Boyce and Michael Boyce; four sisters Alma Pearline Outlaw, Helen Hodge, Margie Rogers, Mildred Burress; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchild-ren.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 1st, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 513 Gilchrist Rd, Darlington SC.
