[WHT: need to check death certificate date; wife, Eliza is listed as a widow in 1920 census.]

My great-grandparents, James Riley and Eliza Parker had another baby that was not listed in your records, named George B. Christmas that died the same year born, 1917. No monthly dates were recorded on the headstone, so he might have been still born (?). I found Parker Cemetery, as you travel towards Lake City it is located on the left side of Hwy. 52, the road on the opposite side of 52 is labeled “Patty”. James Riley Christmas (2686) is buried there beside his infant son William Christmas (8387). There were very few headstones left, but as I walked, there were indentions in the ground the size of plots, so I am assuming there are others there without headstones or any markings. I truly wish you could have been there. I am returning soon to take photos of the remaining headstones and some of us are talking about trying to save what is out there. We are going to contact a headstone company to see what can be done to preserve them.

[WHT: Thanks to Mary Ferguson Miller, granddaughter for providing the following information on Sept. 27, 2008.]
I also found out that my grandfather’s father, William Beauregard Christmas (7352) was killed when he went out to buy barbeque from some black men. I don’t know the details, but from what I was told, the black men were who killed him. My grandfather, Joseph Jackson Christmas (5392) was 4 years old when this happened, so William Beauregard (Gordy), probably died in the year 1909 and was approx. 27.

Hi Herbert,

My Aunt Mae was my grandfather’s (Joseph Jackson Christmas) HALF sister - same mother, different father. She did not actually have a Christmas blood line. I was told she was a Parker, not a Christmas. And yes, she is the 1930 census “Mae”, age 14. I guess my grandfather’s mother (Lizzie Mims) remarried after Madison & Joseph Jackson Christmas and had MAE Parker.
