William Roy Christmas, 82, Cebu City, Philippines, died March 8, 2004, of complications from a 12-year battle against prostate cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at Collins Baptist Church in Collins, Ark. A concluding service with an inurnment will be at Collins Cemetery on the Christmas family farm. A reception will follow the services at the church. Mr. Christmas was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Dermott, Ark., to Olin and Orah (Thompson) Christmas. He was the second of their eight children. His youth was spent on the family farm, where he enjoyed riding horses and going bird hunting.
In 1939, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and, in 1941, enlisted in the Navy. He was serving on the USS Ward when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and saw extensive action in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his naval career, he worked in the civil service until retiring in 1985. His retirement years were spent traveling extensively throughout the world and living in several countries and various locations in the United States. He was a frequent visitor to Klamath Falls. Mr. Christmas was an avid storyteller.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law Gayle Christmas and Dr. John Kleeman and Gian Christmas and Todd Flocchini of Klamath Falls; sons and daughters-in-law Glenn and Heleen Christmas of the Netherlands, Gary and Kathleen Christmas of Riverside, Calif., and Gene and Barri Christmas of Mililani, Hawaii; son Gregg Christmas of Minot, N.D.; grandchildren Rowan Christmas of Seattle, Wash., Laurens Christmas of the Netherlands, Kellianne and Scott Kleeman and Laura and Julia Flocchini of Klamath Falls, Erin and Andrea Christmas of Riverside, and Olivia Christmas of Minot; brother and sister-in-law John and Mildred Christmas of Glen Burnie, Md.; sisters and brothers-in-law Bessie and Earl Gamber of Englewood, Fla., Dorothy and Kramer Dale Norris of Monroe, La.; and sister-in-law Helen Christmas of Collins, Ark.

Va., Mrs. Christmas was the daughter of Mae Houchins of Winter Park, Fla. and the late Homer Issac Houchins. She graduated from Southern High School in Baltimore in 1949.
Mrs. Christmas worked for the State of Maryland in accounting for 15 years and at Fort George G. Meade as a civilian employee of the in personnel for three years. She enjoyed bowling and reading.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Christmas Sr.; two sons, John Christmas Jr. of Arnold and Mark Christmas of Falls Church, Va.; two brothers, Danny Ray Houchins of Winter Park, Fla., and Billy Joe Houchins of Catawissa, Pa.; four sisters, Genevieve Irvine of Pasadena, Garnet Roberts of Ormond Beach, Fla., Mary Colona of Winter Park, Fla., and Gloria DeGeorge of Springfield, Mass.; and two grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Rufus Eddie Houchins.

John Richard Powell Sr., 71, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Gateway Nursing Home. Mr. Powell was born in Burke County, to the late Avery Powell and Addie Rector Powell. He was retired from Hammary Furniture Company. Survivors include his former wife and the mother of his children, Betty J. Jimmy retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, and was employed for 20 years with the civil service at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. Jimmy was a member of the American Legion, and a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 2298. Golfing was his favorite pastime.
He is survived by his wife, Ursula of Panama City; son, James Christmas and wife, Kay, of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Terri Laws and husband, Larry, of Buda, Texas, and Carolyn Gildea and husband, Brian, of Panama City; nine grandchildren, Bradley, Justin, Jake, Zack, Heather, David, Michael, Logan and Nolan; three great-grandchildren, Ryne, Mallori and Larry; sister, Carol Barker and husband, Gene, of Lake Almanor, Calif.; and aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

Catherine Rita Guillery Christmas. date of death was 30 Oct 1993. she was the wife of James W. Christmas, son of Oliver Jerry Christmas and Mae Wilkes Johns Christmas.Catherine Rita Christmas of Gainesville, FL died Sunday at Palm Garden Nursing Home. She was 73. Born in Glens Falls, NY, Mrs. Christmas moved to Gainesville from Miami five years ago. She was a retired manicurist. Mrs. Christmas enjoyed arts and crafts and reading. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara C. Allen of Williston; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

EICKHOFF CHRISTMAS, Althea A., 69, of Tampa passed away Thursday, August 11, 2005. Althea was a lifelong resident of the Tampa Bay area and Presbyterian by faith. She was a member of Eastside Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Tampa. She was preceded in death by husband, Harry F. Eickhoff, and parents, Jerry O. Christmas and Ruby Aliene Christmas. She is survived by son, Richard Roy Eickhoff; daughter, Patricia Ann Eickhoff Meier; sister, Julia Christmas Cooke of Titusville, Fla.; her special pet, Joy Joy; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at Stowers Brandon Chapel. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2005.
