ANDERSON, S.C. - Mrs. Mary Bertha Christmas Richburg, age 82, of Anderson, SC and widow of John Willard Richburg died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at NHC Healthcare of Anderson. Born in Williamsburg County, SC on August 3, 1923, Mrs. Richburg was a daughter to the late Henry Charles Christmas and Ruby White Christmas. She retired from Baxter's Laboratory. She was a charter member and a lay minister of the Assembly of God. She was a former adult Sunday school teacher and sung with the Christmas Family singing group.Survivors include two granddaughters, Pamela Elizabeth Thomas of Anderson, SC and Jennifer Lynn Gerard of Phenix City, AL; two great-granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Thomas and Amber Nicole Thomas; sisters, Vera C. Yarborough of Rio Rancho, NM, Barbara A. Moore of Sumter, SC, Ruby A. Lee of Interlachen, FL, Sue C. Osborne of Turbeville, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Richburg was preceded in death by her son, Franklin Richburg; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Herndon; brother, David J. Christmas; sisters, Katherine C. Ard, Hazel C. Feagin, Mattie L. O'Tyson, and Edna Christmas.
The funeral service will be held at Cross Hill Church of God on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 2:00pm with the Reverends John Christmas, Roland Yarborough, and Lamar Christmas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC. The family will receive friends at Cross Hill Church of God on Friday, July 21, 2006 from Noon until 2:00pm. The family is at the home of Rev. John Christmas 1703 SC Hwy 252, Belton, SC.

Born on July 21, 1940 in Williamsburg County, she was a retired employee of K Mart and attended Cross Hill Church of God. She was the daughter of the late John Willard Richburg. Surviving are daughters, Pamela Thomas of Anderson and Jennifer Gerard of Phoenix City, Ala.; three grandchildren; mother, Mary Christmas Richburg of Anderson; sisters, Vera Yarborough of Albuquerque, N.M., Barbara Moore of Sumter, Ruby Lee of Florida and Sue Osburn of Turberville.Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. John A. Christmas officiating. The body is at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of a daughter, Pamela Thomas, 201 Dursely Drive, Anderson. I just got off the phone with my daughter, back home in Alton, and I had her read me the facts Mattie Christmas had written in the family section. The dates I sent you are as she wrote them, but if you have a confirmation on a different date, I wouldn't change it.The reason you show Mattie Lou is because that was the name given her at birth. But when she obtained a copy of her birth certificate, Lou had been misread and Lee was there instead, and she didn't have it changed. When Mattie moved from Florida to Alton, MO, she brought with her two of her eight sons. Curtis Koone and Matthew O'Tyson. Curtis was a paraplegic and Matt was in high school. Matt, who married my daughter, Kelli, said she never mentioned any West Plains ancestry. It seems that is just a coincidence, but what a coincidence! I'm listing here what facts I didn't send you before. After SC, she moved to FL, then on to MO.

Robert Keith Koone, 52, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at his home in Columbus. He was born March 21, 1955, in Kingstree, S.C., to the late Francis Lonzo Koone and Mattie Lou Christmas. Better known as Keith Koone, he worked in the construction and auto mechanical fields throughout Florida, Colorado and Ohio. He enjoyed laughing while spending time with his family, friends and pet dog Lizzie.Keith is survived by his sons, Robert Keith Koone Jr. of Lancaster and Curtis (Kelly) Lee Koone of Queensbury, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Joey, Jordan, Mickey and Colton Koone; and brothers, Larry (Linda) Koone, Malcolm (Loretta) Koone and Matthew (Kelli) O'Tyson. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Aron, Erica, Charles, Curtis, Ronnie and Timothy Koone.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. April 14 at Lancaster Community Church and followed up with a celebration is his life at the Lancaster Eagles 2120 picnic pavilion in the rear.
