Pansy Mae Hayes, 92, of Graceville died Dec. 17 at North Florida Community Hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1916 in Cottondale to William M. Christmas and Vianna Kittrell. She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Grover Lee Hayes and one daughter: Quida Atkinson. Survivors include; Jackie Hayes and wife Wanda of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Angela and husband Byron Richter of Graceville; one brother: G. D. Yon and wife Frances of Marianna; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Services were held Dec. 22 at Lovewood Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Matthews officiating. Interment followed at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Memorial donations may be made to Lovewood Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Verna "Boots" Smith Tate, age 81, of Marianna passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at the Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Tate was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, and retired from Davis Optometry after working there for many years. She was a member of the Marianna Womens Club and a gifted seamstress.Tate was preceded in death by husbands, John E. Smith, the father of her children and Herman Tate; her two brothers, Ed Christmas and Curtis Christmas; one sister, Murel Davis; and her parents, William M. and Vianar Christmas. She is survived by her son, Phillip J. Smith and wife, Terry of Marianna; her daughter, Cheryl Nielsen and husband Dennis of Marianna; her brother, G. D. Yon and wife Frances of Marianna; her sister, Pansy Hayes of Chipley.; four grandchildren, Jessica Smith Pinsky and husband, Richard, Joelle E. Nielsen Roberts and husband Justin, Sarah Rebecca Smith and Dennis D. Nielsen, Jr. and wife, Jenna; one great-grandchild, Ella Bruce Pinsky; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.
Services for Tate will be held at 1 p.m., today, Dec. 17, at the Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roland Rabon officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Marianna Womens Club, Jackson County Public Library or the Hacienda Girls Ranch through the Marianna Womens Club. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lillie Kathleen (Kathy) Albritton, 72, a resident of Cottondale and lifelong resident of Jackson County, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at her residence following an extended illness. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Samuel E. Albritton of Cottondale; one son, Scott Albritton and his wife Faye of Cottondale; one daughter, De Ann Albritton and her friend Fred Olive; six grandchildren, Sam Hall, Brandy Hall, Kayla Albritton, Lindsey Albritton, Tyler Scarborough and Courtney Scarborough; two sisters, Alene Cook and her husband Willie Cook of Cottondale, and Nadine Finch and her husband Dale Finch of Graceville; one brother, Coy Christmas and his wife Ema of Lompoc, Calif.; and special friends Kay Albritton, Robert Lipford and Flora Barber. She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Mary E. Christmas; and three brothers, L.W. Christmas, Willis Christmas and Roy Lee Christmas.The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, at the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with pastor Andy Glover officiating. She will be laid to rest at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Cottondale. The family will welcome friends and other family from 6-8 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 24, at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Asked to serve as pall bearers are Robert Lipford, James Lipford, Sam Hall, Richard Coe, Chris Hart and Jeff Hart. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
