Barbara L. Lorick, 75, of Alabaster, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010. She was born on Sunday, July 22, 1934, in Georgia, daughter of the late Ralph Hammontree and the late Eunice Parks Hammontree. She was a superintendent of transportation with the railroad.Surviving are her four daughters, Donna Greco of Middleburg, Fla., Merry Christmas of Alabaster, Teresa Speights of Green Cove, Fla., and Lorie (Doug) Blanchard of Jemison; two sons, Nolan Lorick of Crawfordville, Fla. and Rolan Lorick of Crawfordville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and brother, Luther Hammontree of Alachua, Fla.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, Tallahassee, Fla. artin Funeral Home (www.martinfuneralhomeinc.com) directing.

Mary Elaine Christmas Holley went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in Dallas, Texas, after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Clinton Elwood Holley. A native of Cottondale, she married C.E. Holley in 1952, and moved to Tallahassee. During their marriage they also lived in Brunswick, Ga., Whichita Falls, Texas, and Daytona, before retiring in Cottondale.
Holley cherished her role as a mother of five daughters and one son and also as a foster parent for 44 children over seven years while living in Brunswick, Ga. During her retirement years, she volunteered as a respite worker for Elder Care Services in Jackson and Washington counties and loved working with her clients. She was a strong Christian who loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, and was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church. Over the years she volunteered in many capacities at the church, but especially loved teaching Sunday school in the youth department and singing in the choir. After "raising" her children, she enjoyed becoming an artist and spent many hours painting. Holley was a member of art leagues in Wichita Falls, Texas, Malone and Panama City. She was a member of the Brunswick, Ga., Garden Club and the Gideons in Wichita Falls, Texas. She also loved being a grandmother and spent as much time with her grandchildren as possible.
She is survived by her children, Janet Reynolds, Lisa Pittman (and Kenny), Angela Gaskins (and Keith), Teresa Kinnard (and David), David Holley, Mary Shoun (and Dennis) and Marilyn Rogers; 13 grandchildren, Derek Twaddle, Mitch Reynolds, Holley Cochran, Kristopher and Brandon Gaskins, Jacob, Jasmin and Summer Kinnard, Susie Holley, Kristina and Portia Shoun, Ryan Rogers and Angie Gordy; seven great-grandchildren, Casy, Dylan, Patrick and Ellie Twaddle, Taylor and Bryce Gordy and Connor Rogers.
She is also survived by four brothers, Ellis H. Christmas of Graceville, Earl A. Christmas of Cottondale, Ben O. Christmas of Lake City and John A. Christmas of Cottondale; and one sister, Helen Cotton of Tallahassee.
Holley is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Mattie Chritmas; brothers, Hubert and Donald Christmas; sister, Arlene Gay; and her beloved grandson, James Holbrook.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2006, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Marianna Chapel, 3960 Lafayett Street in Marianna. The celebration of her life service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, 2006, at the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale, with the Rev. Jackie Register, Ellis "Hamp" Christmas and the Rev. David Taylor officiating and interment in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2136 Piney Grove Rd., Cottondale, FL 32431. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home (526-5059) is handling the arrangements.
Horace Gay, 67, of Panama City, formerly of Alford, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, in Panama City. He was a native of Jackson County and lived most of his life in this area. He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard and was a member of the DeSota County and the Jackson County Sheriff's Posse. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.Survivors include one son, Clay Gay of Cottondale; four daughters, Anna Gay of Cottondale, Cindy Sloan of Panama City, Sheryl White of Dothan, Nicki Sumner of Campbellton; four brothers, William Lee Gay of Alford, George Gay and R.L. Gay, both of Panama City, Earl Gay of Dellwood; two sisters, Lois Harris of Marianna and Louise Kent of Panama City; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 26, at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Hamp Christmas officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Maddox Chapel.
