Settled between Clear Springs Church and Stoneville, which it is believed to have been changed to Hunterville.

John settled on Peters Creek, near Piney. John was killed by Peter, colored slave. Peter was hanged near J. Frank FOWLER's, Piney, SC.

Mary 'Polly' JONES was born on 12 Oct 1783 in Plains, Greenville Co., SC. She died on 30 Jun 1858 in Plains, Greenville Co., SC. Married Samuel H. HOWARD was born on 28 Feb 1775 in Plains, Greenville Co., SC. He died on 9 Jan 1853 in Plains, Greenville Co., SC. He was buried in HOWARD Plantation. Samuel H. HOWARD and Mary 'Polly' JONES were married on 12 Oct 1801 in Plains, Greenville Co., SC.

Samuel H. was born reportedly near Fountain Inn, Greenville Co., SC, this from the book descendants of John Howard. Samuel, family Bible in poss. of Mrs. Ernestine Howard. Living with Samuel on the 1850 census is Avis HOWARD, born 1822, not listed in Bible as Samuel's dau.

This from the Jones Book: Samuel Howard settled below Simpsonville on the headwaters of Durbin Creek, on or near the David Burdett place. Samuel joined the Clear Springs Baptist church in Simpsonville in 1833. Both he and his wife are buried in the Howard Cem.

From the Jones Bk.: Settled near his father, but in March 1833 moved to Centerville in Laurens County, where his son, John H.(Jack) lived. From his will, it is thought that he was the richest of the brothers.
