Jones, age 75 (Mar. 1825), farmer, born in SC, as were parents; wife, Didema, 69, married 40 years, had 5 children - 3 living, born in GA, parents in SC; children listed: William A., 44.[WHT: My thanks to Keith Jones, descendant, for providing information on his line in Aug. 2009.]
2009 comments by Keith Jones: when John L. was living in Forsyth Co, GA, there was ANOTHER John L. living there, who was 12 years older. I’ve been unable to determine if they were related at all, but they were NOT father/son. But somehow the other John L. became known as “Sr.” and my John L. as “Jr.” He even has J.L. Jones Jr. on his tombstone! This caused me no end of confusion/frustration in trying to find my ancestral line!
2009 comments by Keith Jones: Nancy Cross Jones was the daughter of Nimrod Cross, who gave an affidavit about the Revolutionary service of Thomas Jones, who I believe was a son/nephew of William Jones. The Hiram listed in the paragraph above was fully named Hiram Nimrod Jones, so he’s named for his 2 grandfathers. Nancy died sometime shortly after giving birth to Hiram. Her sister, Dama, according to family lore, came to ‘take care of the little ones,’ and married John L. on 10/11/1860.
