[WHT: The following was posted by Marlene C. McLean to the Christmas Mailing List on Jan. 15, 2001.]

According to Sister M. Virginia Geiger, Daniel Carroll II, One Man and His Descendants, 1738-1978, Benjamin Franklin Christmas (1897-1979), known as B. Frank (the second son of James Miller Christmas and Mary Martha Duval), was a professional owner-breeder-trainer of horses. B. Frank Christmas married Margaret Kershaw, a descendant of General John Kershaw of the Confederate forces in South Carolina, and secondly, Mary Grason (1913- ), daughter of Samuel Chew Grason (1886-1937) and Emily Elizabeth Cockey (1882-1976). Many of B. Frank Christmas' horses were stake winners such as Towson, Home To Papa, Wall Of Roses, Bogie Man, Wakefield Miss, Salingon, Idle Miss. His farm, "Idle Miss Farm," purchased in 1940, takes its name from the filly, Idle Miss, who won several stakes. B. Frank Christmas had trained "close to 20" stake winners and he and Mrs. Mary Grason Christmas are "credited with having bred eight stake winners."

This information is found under Narrative 33. CHRISTMAS on pages 121-128 of Sister Virginia Geiger's book.
