Daddy came from Kentucky to visit his brother Guy McDonald who was living with my Mother's family Wi Wi and Granddaddy John in Hewitt, Tx.Guy McDonald was working for the railroad at that time. That is how my Mother and Daddy meet. Then were married they eloped to Lorena, Texas.Daddy told us at while growing up in Kentucky in the winter time it would be to cold for school and they would go out on the frozen lake and ice skate. He said that Aunt Kathleen couldn't ice skate so he pulled her in a old wash pot.My Daddy played basketball in high school.His daddy had a store. He took us back to Kentucky a couple of times, and they came to visit us in Texas. He was the eighth child of ten. His Mother died when he was twenty one years of age.Daddy joined the Seabees when the Japan bombed Hawaii. He served all down in the Pacific Ocean. When the movie The Fighting Seabees with John Wayne is on I like to watch it because it was about my Daddy.
Mother and Daddy ran off to Lorena to get married. As we were growing up there are a lot of memories about our life. Mother always had the kitchen warm in the winter time because the old house was always cold. When you got up in the winter time you always ran to the kitchen because you knew Mother had it warm in there. I always remember after being sick she would fix me a big glass of chocolate milk.
