190. Truett Ferrel Smith-5293

[WHT: From Ray Anderson:] Both believed buried at Seminole, TX. Name Truett came from famous Baptist minister in Fort Worth, last name Truett.

The famous Preacher Truett, Truett was named after, was very powerful in politics and later became surrounded with scandal after he shot and killed his secretary's husband. He was alleged to have been having an affair with his secretary. He continued to minister a large congregation in Fort Worth after the shooting. He was not related to this family. The family named their male children after famous ministers is the only connection. Ferrell seems to have come from a wealthy landowner, who lived near the Myrtle Springs area Van Zandt County Tx, that imported many families to the area. It is not known if his influence had anything to do with our families coming to Van Zandt County
