Also living with them are the following stepchildren, probably Minnie's: Bernice, Grey, Wynona & James Boshears.

[WHT: The following received from Rick Furr, in Jan/Feb. 1999; I wrote him back regarding Jeannie's information.]

Jan. 13 1999: Seeking information on Dona Jeannette Christmas, b. 9/23/1908 d. 5/13/1980, from Harriman, TN. Her father was Thomas Allen Christmas b. 10/28/1867 d.11/3/1954 married to Dorcus Lou Pritchett and Minnie Edith Griffith Boshears. Other children of Thomas Allen were Earnest T. Christmas, Mary Christmas, Haskell Boyd Christmas, James David Christmas, J. Thomas Christmas, Hazel D. Christmas, Clara Christmas, and Wayne Wallace Christmas. Their father was a W. W. Christmas b. 1842, married to Susan A. Russell. I believe him to be William Woodson Christmas. The only other child I have for W. W. Christmas other than Thomas Allen Christmas was Maude A. Christmas.

Jan. 15, 1999: I might add that there are Christmas's still in the Harriman, TN, area but for some reason very little information is known. (Like this is the only instance of this ever happening!) The birthdate's and spouse name for my W.W. Christmas coincide exactly with Jeanne Hamby's William Woodson Christmas, who is buried in Harriman, so I feel fairly confident that he is indeed W.W. I think we can confirm this if we can find where he was born and track the children.

July 2, 1999: I have uncovered and corroborated a story involving my wifes grandfather, Thomas Allen Christmas, of Harriman, TN. I had been led to believe that he was the son of William Woodson Christmas. I now hear from two different family sources that he was one of three illigitimate children of Matilda Christmas, a sister of William Woodson, and a Union officer named McGoldrick. This might help explain an 1880 Grainger Co., TN, census listing Matilda as head of the household, with the following children: Thomas A., James, Holt, Susan and Mary. Have you run across this information in any of your research?
