Hi Herbert Thanks so much for the information on the census of 1920 and 1930. A few corrections I can clarify: On the 1920 census it seems to say that dau. Stellas last name was Rossetti ---- it seems to say it was her last name and that she was 22 and married. This was my grand mother on my fathers side. There was always a family mystery of how many times she was married and she would never let us discuss it . Is this your opinion of how the census was recorded? I suppose it may have been recorded in pencil too as they went door to door for information.
On the 1930 census ; the third line has dau. Stella Debay---it should say DeBoy. the fourth line has Leroy Barler---it should say LeRoy Barker (this was my father) the fifth line has Pearl Bresoll---it should say Pearl Russell (this was my dad's step sister). I don't know why it doesn't list my uncle Eddie Christmas. He was married to Ova (Carter) with 4 daughters named Osa May, Evelyn, Mary. and Zelpha Ann. They also lived in Lawton at this time (1930) and the last 2 girls were probably not born yet. You have been so helpful. I look forward to many more discoveries on this family name pursuit .Thanks again. Sincerely, Gay Graves

Louvina Christmas' father was William Christmas born April 1862. His wife's name was Samantha born March 1867. Louvina was born in June 1886. Louvina and William Ambers Sanders son was Walter, my grandfather.
The 1900 census has her family living in Newton County Missouri. I have that Louvina' fathers father was James Christmas born 1842. His wife was Mary E _____ born 1844 on the same 1900 census. I can go no further back than that. I am wondering where my Christmas line came from. So, who were James' parents I wonder.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I tracked down a distant cousin last night who told me that all they knew was that Merrill Christmas was born in Idabel, Okla. We know his father Jim and mother LouElla are buried at Memorial Park cemetery in Okla. He thinks they may have came from the Texas area. He also told me that he used to hear his dad talk of distant relatives living in the Picher, Ok. area and working the chat mines, but they could not speak english at all. We also think that Jim's parents names were either Bill Christmas, and either Sarah or Mary. Jim had 2 brothers named Johnny and Tommy and a sister named Sarah. That is pretty much all we know. I certainly appreciate all your help. Thank You Debbie

He married LouElla Lackey who was born on Dec. 11 1900 and died Dec 1980. I have no contact with this side of the family but would love to find out about my ancestors. I do know their children are, A.C., Jeraldean or with a G., Merrill (my father), Harold, and Evelyn Adams. I have heard lately that some of the ancestry was of Jewish descent. I hope you can help me find out who my great, great grandparents might be.
