John C. Horney Hurni-1553


John C. (Horney) Hurni, 70 of Rome, Ohio died late Wednesday evening, August 11, 2004 at the Hospice Unit in Ashtabula County Medical Center.

He was born July 14, 1934 in Cleveland the son of John Anton and Caroline (Granat) Horney.

Mr. Hurni was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Cleveland and had attended Fenn College. He worked for many years at API Instruments and L.F.E. Corporation in Chesterland and had lived and farmed in Rome for 30 years after moving from Montville, Ohio.

John was a licensed Ham Radio Operator (KC8NLW), a member of the Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association and the Great Youngstown Monitoring Association also enjoyed classical music and the ballet.

He is survived by his wife Beverly (Christmas) who he married December 28, 1957 at Litchfield, Ohio; daughter Deborah Brown of Michigan; sons John (Debbie) of Colorado, Paul (Stacy) of Missouri, Stephen of Colorado and Glenn (Linda) of Colorado; six grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Kim, Joe, Tarin and Corwin; Brother-in-law Kenneth Christmas of Brunswick, Ohio and sister-in-law Donna Romig of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his parents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2004 at the Paine-Guerriero Funeral Home, 140 East Main Street, Orwell, Ohio with the interment following in Rome Center Cemetery.
